Constructed
with the help of Orb, ZAFT, and Earth Alliance engineers, the ORB-X05B was
built to create a fusion design incorporating details from the Strike Freedom
and Infinite Justice as well as the Akatsuki.
It was originally intended to be a counterpart to the Akatsuki but
budget problems cancelled the project before it could be constructed. The unit employs a new Ultra Compact Cold
Fusion Nuclear Reactor. Theoretically,
the unit can dish out more power in an instant than either the Justice or
Freedom thanks to upgraded capacitors.
The unit also is built to utilize the METEORs on the Eternal.
One other unique part of the suit is the
Multiphase Shift Armor System. Like
Phase Shift, it protects the suit from physical attacks. The added part of the system protects the
suit from intense and prolonged exposure to heat to allow the suit to reenter
the atmosphere without noticeable damage to the main armor plating.

as a partnership project with the Moscow-based Omicron Industries and Orb’s
Morgenroete, the Paladin is the basic mobile suit of the MOBIUS regular
forces. Built to counterpart the GAT-01A2R
Slaughter Daggers of the Phantom Pain forces, the Paladins are built with a
backpack system. The units are built to
rival the GAT-series Strike and ZGMF-1000 Zakus in firepower and
performance. The unit comes with a
composite shield to deflect beam and physical attacks that can attach to either
shoulder. Like the Slaughter Daggers,
the Paladins are each equipped with laminated armor as well as a heat
dissipation system to counteract beam attacks.
This unit also is the first mass-produced unit to utilize a panoramic
cockpit design with the cockpit entrance on the top of the chest.
Although
built in limited quantities, thanks to the resources and manufacturing colonies
of Olympia and
Antares the units are produced and distributed among the ships of the MOBIUS
fleet. The parts are modular, which
makes repair and refit work relatively easy to conduct. Other units given to the better ace pilots
are equipped with Trans-Phase Armor Systems.

The backpack stores two large anti-ship swords and two beam
boomerangs. The unit though still

MOX-12A5-FSX Force Striker Paladin
Description:
A Paladin unit equipped with a Force Striker module based off of the Aile pack
for the Strike and Force Silhouette of the Impulse. The backpack comes with several additional
thrusters to increase speed and maneuverability. An additional rifle is added along with two
other beam sabers.
MOX-12A5-BX Buster Paladin
Description:
Unlike other variants of the Paladin, the Buster variant equips a backpack in
addition to added body modifications. Additional
armor is attached to the shoulders, torso, and legs. Thrusters are also added to compensate for
the added weight giving the Buster variant similar agility to the standard
unit. Added armaments include either a
Vaslov-series long-range variable cannon or twin gatling guns that can fire
either projectile or beam rounds.
Missile launchers are added to the shoulders and leg armor. Other beam sabers are stored in the lower arm
armor that can be used without the hands.
In the hands of an ace pilot, a single unit
can prove to be quite a force to reckon with.

The
Variable Assault Dreadnaught class of vessels were developed exclusively by
MOBIUS for use in the newly created peacekeeper forces. Due to constraints with production and
maintenance costs, the rest of the VAD-series was built with smaller
proportions and the two ships already in construction were dubbed the
“Flagship” type or VADF. Larger than any
other flagship aside from ZAFT’s Gondwana,
it was designed to act as whole task forces or small fleets through
overwhelming firepower and mobile suit capacity in one package. It is built with eight catapults and four
launch bays and can carry twenty-four mobile suits. Each bay is fitted with two catapults. One of the main distinctive features of this
ship is the incorporation of a Multiphasic Armor System in conjunction with
laminated armor. The ship is powered by
three cold fusion nuclear reactors providing enough energy to utilize the armor
system and the weapons systems. Thanks
to it and the powerful main engines, the ships is capable of leaving and
reentering the atmosphere under its own power without the need of ablative gel
or boosters.
As
with all ships in the MOBIUS fleet, each ship is sponsored by a specific nation
within the Earth System. To be a sponsor
is to not only donate personnel but also weapons and resources to help built
the ships. The first ship of the line,
Orb’s Kotetsu, was built at the
shipyard facilities on Antares and first launched in C.E. 77 September and
docked at Orb Union in October for finishing construction. The word “kotetsu” in Japanese means
“ironclad.” After the attempted theft of
the ORB-X05B, the ship is deployed with two six-man mobile suit teams to pursue
the unknown ship involved. Not long
after the secession of the Eurasian nations, the Kotetsu is deployed there to combat the Earth Alliance forces. Her sister ship, Scandinavia’s
Sanction, was forced to undergo
additional refit work and wasn’t launched until late spring of the following
year.

Due
to constraints with the high production and maintenance costs of the VAD
series, the original designs were modified to produce ships that were
significantly reduced in size. Despite
this, the new ships still possessed numerous amounts of heavy firepower and
were now dubbed the Battleship type or VADB.
It possesses almost the same equipment and weapons as the VADF types
minus the “Hellhound” missiles. The side
launch bays have two catapults while the front and rear bays possess only one.
